The caboose is being donated by Tom Kamps, GWHS Depot Manager and board member. While site prep, delivery, placement, etc., are still in the planning stages, our goal is to have the caboose set and ready for display by fall 2026.

How the Soo Line Caboose came to be by Tom Kamps: In 1966 to 1973 International Car Company built 145 wide vision cabooses. Number 82 was fifth in the series of 66-145. I bought it from the Canadian Pacific Railroad in July of 1994. It was in the book to be scrapped, taken out of service because it was derailed into an engine. It sustained damage on both ends. I went through and totally restored it back to its original state, including new windows. I have now painted it twice and she looks showroom condition and ready for its last chapter in life in Gordon, WI. I am very proud to be donating this piece of history.
